Specialising in complex dental cases requiring multidisciplinary teams

IKON Dental Specialists has been a multi-speciality referral practice serving complex dental needs for patients across London for more than 30 years. We understand that no two patients are the same, and many require multiple treatments across various dental disciplines. By having a range of dental specialists, as well as experienced and skilled general dentists and hygienists, we can ensure that our patients receive the very best care, whatever treatment they require.

In addition to our range of highly experienced specialists, IKON Dental Specialists is also the only practice in London to be accredited by the University of Central Lancashire and a teaching centre for their MSc delegates. The UCL is also paired with the VSS Implant Academy and teaching has been carried out under the supervision of our own Dr. Bose.

Our achievements have been recognized, with IKON Dental Specialists (formerly IKON Dental Suite) being a finalist in the Private Dentistry Awards as well as receiving a British Dental Association Good Clinical Practice Award.

Here are just some of the dental specialities that we can offer at our Ealing dental practice.

Orthodontics

An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has undertaken further training beyond a general dental qualification, and is focused on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of irregularities and issues affecting the teeth and jaw.

They work with people of all ages, although orthodontic treatment is most often associated with children and teenagers. This is because the most well-known orthodontic treatment – braces – is usually given to people during their pre-teen years.

Orthodontists can correct a range of issues including:

Orthodontic treatment is also important for your oral health, since if your teeth are out of alignment, you are more likely to be affected by decay and gum disease. Orthodontic treatment can involve several aspects, from removal of excess teeth to braces or a clear aligner solution to move teeth, like Invisalign. In some cases, surgery to correct the jaw may also be necessary.

Periodontology

Periodontologists have received specialist training in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of issues affecting the gums, including gum disease.

This is an additional three years of study and practice beyond general dental school.

Periodontology refers to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the gums and other tooth-supporting structures, which are sometimes referred to as periodontal tissues. The gums play a vital role in keeping our teeth in position and if they are compromised by disease or infection, tooth loss is a very real possibility.

Periodontists are also heavily involved in the placement of dental implants and can perform cosmetic periodontal procedures, such as gum recontouring to improve the appearance of a gummy smile.

Endodontics

Endodontists are highly skilled dental specialists who specialise in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of tooth pain, disease and infection.

Like other specialists, they complete additional education and training beyond obtaining their general dental qualification and many consider themselves specialists in saving teeth, since endodontic treatment is one of the only effective methods for saving a highly diseased tooth. This is more commonly known as root canal treatment.

Endodontists dedicated their time to finding the cause of dental and facial pain and only perform endodontic treatments. This makes them experts in identifying and resolving your dental pain.

Oral surgery

Also known as oral and maxillofacial surgeons, these professionals are specialists that have received up to an additional six years of education and training to enable them to deal with the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the mouth and jaws that require surgical intervention.

Most surgeries are medically complex and oral surgeons usually work alongside other specialists to ensure that the patient receives the best possible outcome from their treatment.

Some of the treatments that can be performed by oral surgeons include:
