Why tooth implants

Losing a tooth can be devastating and has a knock-on effect on the functionality of your smile, your facial aesthetics and your confidence.

Unlike conventional dental bridges, an implant provides a fixed permanent solution - one that blends in naturally with your remaining teeth and one that can last for many years.

Our dental implants here in Ealing can replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or an entire arch of teeth using the latest teeth-in-a-day technology.

Whatever your current tooth loss situation, you will never have to worry about hiding your smile or wearing dentures ever again. Implants are a clinically proven and viable alternative that can radically change your smile for the better.

Subsidised dental implants

Some patients may be eligible for subsidised implant treatment as part of our ongoing relationship with VSS Academy and the University of Central Lancashire.

Eligibility will be discussed at an initial consultation and if appropriate, patients will be advised. Subsidised treatment of a single implant and crown available from £1800 (usually £2800).

Finance options are also available.

How dental implants work

  • The titanium post (implant) is secured down into the jawbone at the missing tooth site
  • Over time, bone tissue will fuse with the implant to create a solid platform
  • The implant is then able to support a single crown, several teeth in the form of a dental bridge or when used in conjunction with 4-6 other implants an entire arch of teeth

Benefits of getting dental implants here at IKON Dental Specialists

A tooth implant is the only form of dental restoration that replaces the missing tooth root as well as the crown.

This means that a dental implant has far greater chewing and biting power than other types of restoration (bridges or dentures) and therefore, patients can eat whatever they like without restriction.

This, in turn, allows patients to follow a well-balanced diet allowing them to receive any nutrients and vitamins needed to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

In addition, dental implants help maintain facial structure. Because they actively encourage new bone growth they can help to restore a jawbone that may otherwise have started to reabsorb (dissolve) after tooth loss.

Did you know that in just one year after tooth loss, the jaw typically loses around 25% of its mass? This causes the face to sag and take on an aged appearance.

The right dental care from our implant dentists in Ealing can restore your facial shape giving you the confidence to smile again.

Here at IKON, our patients will receive specialist dental care from world-class clinicians who are experts in their field. And with proper care and regular maintenance, a dental implant can last for several decades or more.

Your questions answered!

  • What are the key advantages of dental implants over other restorations?

Dental implants improve your overall health as they prevent any remaining teeth from shifting. When teeth are in alignment it makes brushing and flossing easier. Over time dental implants become a permanent part of your mouth so, unlike dentures, they won’t shift or move, giving you the confidence to bite, chew and speak normally.

Finally, in the right hands, an implant-based restoration can be made to look incredibly lifelike, so friends or family won’t even know unless you choose to tell them.

  • Can I get dental implants on the NHS?

Unfortunately, the NHS only covers dental treatments that are deemed necessary and currently don’t view dental implants as essential to oral health. The good news is that dental implants are available privately at our dental practice here in Ealing, so people from Ealing, West Ealing, Ealing Broadway, Hanwell, Acton and other parts of West London can benefit from this life-changing treatment.

  • Is dental implant surgery painful?

No. Because a great deal of time and effort goes into custom-planning your surgery, the surgical placement itself is relatively quick. Our specialist team is well-versed in gentle dentistry and many of our patients tell us that it’s no worse than having a tooth filling or simple extraction.

  • Is there an age limit to getting dental implants?

No. Provided that you are healthy and able to undergo surgery there is no upper age limit. Dental implants are not, however, recommended for patients under the age of 18. This is because their bones are still growing. Dental implants work best when placed into mature bone.

At ikon practice I had excellent, efficient treatment. When a problem developed it was speedily resolved. Manish Bose and his team were extremely helpful and kind.
