IKON Dental Specialists dentistry for young patients
Here’s what you need to know…
Everyone can benefit from regularly visiting a dentist, no matter how old they are. In fact, childhood is the ideal time to learn all about good dental habits and the importance of taking proper care of your teeth. Your IKON dentist can be instrumental in this process, teaching children just why they should take the time to prioritise their oral health.
Some of the elements of dental education that your dentist can help with include:
In addition to these, your IKON paediatric dentist can:
You may be surprised to learn that as many as a third of children will require orthodontic treatment.
Orthodontic treatment is designed to address alignment issues, both with the teeth and the jaw. Closing gaps and eliminating overlapping between teeth can minimize the risk of decay and gum disease. Meanwhile, addressing bite problems can prevent uneven wear and tear on the teeth and issues with the jaw itself..
The ideal age to have orthodontic braces is around the age of 12 or 13, but every child is different and orthodontic treatment will be recommended and carried out based on your child’s individual requirements. At IKON Dental Specialists, our orthodontists aim to make treatment as comfortable as possible, while ensuring that your child receives the care that they need to enjoy a great smile and optimal oral health as they head into adulthood
Orthodontic braces do require the wearer to make a number of compromises while they are undergoing treatment, not least changing what they can and can’t eat.
They are also very visible. Some children (and parents) decide that they would rather avoid orthodontic braces and instead choose a newer technology to correct their child’s teeth and jaw – Invisalign.
Invisalign is just one clear aligner solution. Like braces, it relies on gentle and persistent force to propel the teeth and jaws into a new and improved position. However, rather than using brackets and wires, bespoke transparent plastic aligners are created and worn over the teeth to apply gentle force. Invisalign involves a whole series of aligners that must be worn in order, for at least 22 hours per day. However, since they are removable for eating and cleaning, they have far less effect on your child’s day to day life. They are also more discreet.
Clear aligner treatment isn’t available as an NHS orthodontic treatment but can be chosen privately. Payment plans may be available – please enquire with our team.

My son who has learning difficulties attended the clinic for an implant. Mr. Bose was absolutely superb in making my son feel at ease. The implant was carried out perfectly too. Would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone
