IKON Dental Specialists Dental Technologies in Ealing

Advanced dental technologies in Ealing, West London

Our technology

Here’s what you need to know…

Investing in the latest dental technologies

Bringing safer, better dental treatment to Ealing, West London

Technology has changed the face of many different industries, including dentistry. There are a variety of benefits associated with adopting dental technologies.

Dental practices benefit because they can correct oral health problems more quickly and accurately, with fewer risks. And patients benefit because they too can have treatments performed more quickly, with greater precision, lower risk of complications and usually less discomfort. Recovery times can be faster following procedures performed with dental technologies too.

At IKON Dental Specialists, we understand just how valuable dental technologies can be, and we have invested in some of the latest, cutting edge dental technologies currently available.

CBCT scanner

CBCT stands for Cone Beam Computed Tomography.

A CBCT scanner is a state-of-the-art scanning machine that can produce detailed, high resolution 3D images of your teeth, gums and jaw.

CBCT scanners are invaluable in cases where patients require fairly complex dental treatments, including surgery. The images are extremely detailed and stored digitally, enabling them to be used to monitor the effectiveness of treatment, as well as planning it. Some of the dental issues that may require a patient to have a CBCT scan include:

  • Dental implant planning and placement
  • Periodontal treatments, such as gum recontouring
  • Orthodontic treatments, including Invisalign
  • Complex endodontic cases
  • Diagnosis of tumours or deep-rooted infections
  • Oral surgery planning

CBCT scans are minimally invasive and use the lowest possible radiation dose making them suitable for most patients. Using CBCT images can also dramatically reduce the level of risk associated with any dental procedure.

Digital x-rays

X-rays are a fairly common diagnostic test in dentistry and are important since a large proportion of teeth are below the gum line.

Digital x-rays are a newer and more efficient way of carrying out assessments on the teeth and jaw.

  • Digital x-rays produce up to 90% less radiation compared with film x-rays
  • Your IKON dentist can adjust, enlarge or magnify any areas of concern for closer analysis
  • Digital x-rays can be easily stored and accessed at the touch of a button for many years
  • Digital x-rays are also more environmentally friendly since there are no chemicals or film needed to produce them

Using digital x-rays, your IKON dentist can plan your care and any treatments that are needed more effectively, and this will help improve your outcome and patient experience. For example, if you have an infected tooth, x-rays could help us to visualise the extent of the infection, plan the root canal and then ensure that all infection is thoroughly removed during the treatment, making it more effective.

Trios scanner

Trios intraoral scanners are advanced handheld dental scanners that has changed the way in which we approach and provide dental treatments.

This is because the Trios scanner enables us to take comprehensive and highly accurate impressions of your teeth digitally.

There are a range of benefits associated with the use of a Trios scanner, including:

  • No messy impressions using putty and trays
  • No discomfort during the impression-making process
  • Faster scanning means less time in the chair
  • Scans of your teeth can be digitally and immediately sent to our leading partner labs to start the process of creating your restorations
  • Fewer appointments are required
  • Fewer remakes are needed, since the accuracy of digital impressions is significantly higher than putty-based alternatives
  • A less intimidating process for young children or adults with physical or cognitive disabilities

Trios scanning makes planning dental treatment and seeing how your treatment is progressing simple. Images are even taken in real colour, which makes it easier for our labs to ensure that your restoration is made exactly to your size and shade specifications, meaning it will look as natural as possible.

Manesh Bose came highly recommended to me, now I can see why and want to pass on the recommendation to others. He carried out my dental procedures with expertise, and a caring reassuring manner. He followed up with calls to make sure all was how it should be. On top of this, the amazingly helpful and friendly team working with Manesh made me feel that the 2 hours it would take me to get to my appointments from work was worth every second.
