Restoring your teeth in Ealing

We offer beautiful inlays and onlays to save decayed teeth.

In many cases, decayed or chipped teeth can be repaired with white fillings. This is where the decayed part of the tooth is carefully removed and filling material is used in its place. Sometimes, the damage is too great for a regular filling, but not quite severe enough for a dental crown. This is where an inlay or onlay would be the best treatment option.

Inlays are used when the repair is needed to the biting surface of a back tooth, whereas onlays will repair the raised points on a back tooth. For both inlays and onlays an impression of your teeth will be required as the restoration will be made in the dental laboratory. While this is happening, we will place a temporary filling to protect the tooth in the meantime.

Inlays and onlays at IKON are made from the best dental materials available to ensure a strong restoration that will last many, many years. The final result will be as aesthetic as it is functional, meaning that no one will be able to see it in your mouth.

What to expect from a dental check-up

Dental check-ups are recommended for all patients of all ages and typically involve:

Your dentist may make certain recommendations that they believe would help you to maximise your oral health, for example switching from a manual toothbrush to an electric variety or chewing gum between meals. If they spot a dental issue that requires specialist treatment, they can refer you to the appropriate IKON team member.

What issues can a dental check-up detect?

A dental check-up can detect a wide range of different dental issues, including but not limited to:

How often should I get a dental check up?

Most patients are recommended to have a dental check-up at least once a year, but many attend several appointments during a 12-month period.

Your IKON dentist will advise you how often you should schedule dental check-ups and this will be based on your current oral health.

commonly asked questions about

Dental check ups in Ealing

  • What age should someone start getting dental check-ups?

It’s never too early to start visiting your dentist, and we recommend that children start to attend routine dental check-ups as soon as their first teeth erupt. This will help them to become familiar with visiting the dentist and everything that it entails, which could hopefully help prevent them from becoming fearful about dental check-ups and treatments as they get older. Schedule your child’s first visit to IKON Dental Specialists in Ealing by calling us on 020 8997 2888.

  • What happens if I miss a dental check-up?

Don’t panic. We know that life gets busy, and it can be easy to overlook an appointment. We strongly advise patients to book their dental check-ups well in advance, but if you forget or you miss an appointment, please speak to us as soon as possible and we will be happy to book in your routine dental exam. Please don’t wait for the next one, as a dental issue could develop between now and then which could cause pain or have other consequences for your oral health.

  • I’m ready to get started, what happens next?

If you are overdue for a dental check-up and would like to have your oral health assessed by a highly experienced and award-winning dental team, call our West London dental practice on 020 8997 2888 today or use our online booking service.

  • Do you offer white fillings?

At IKON in Ealing we are pleased to offer white fillings as the most cosmetic option for tooth repairs. If you require a filling, we will safely remove any decay from your tooth first. We will then fill the tooth with our highly aesthetic and extremely durable filling material. We only use the best dental materials available so your new filling will be seamless, unnoticeable and will withstand the forces from chewing a biting for a long-lasting restoration.

We are also able to replace silver metal or amalgam fillings with white fillings for a more aesthetic smile.

  • What is a dental crown?

If a tooth is broken or has a lot of decay we will use a dental crown to repair it. A crown will also be used following root canal treatment to protect the restored tooth.

Dental crowns are fabricated in the dental laboratory and will be crafted with the shade, shape and size of your existing teeth in mind. This means that your restored tooth will perfectly match the rest of your teeth so that no one will know any different.

Crowns are also used on top of dental implants or dental bridges when a tooth is missing.

  • What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a replacement tooth that is held in place by a crown on either side of the gap it is filling.

We use dental bridges at IKON if you have more than one tooth that requires repair or if a tooth (or teeth) is missing. Dental bridges can effectively ‘bridge’ the gap to create a seamless smile once again, that is also extremely strong and functional.

I go for a regular checkup with Dr Manish Bose, and so far have not needed any "procedures".  He is very easy to deal with, having a relaxed manner and  providing clear information about my dental status, the options open, together with his guidance.  Thoroughly recommend.
