Dental check-ups at IKON

Dental check-ups are the cornerstone of your dental health.

Regular attendance allows our dental team to monitor your dental health to ensure that we catch any problems in the early stages and treat them quickly before you end up in pain.

During your dental check-up we will examine your teeth, gums, and mouth, and ask you if you are experiencing any problems. Your dentist will look out for tooth decay, broken or chipped teeth, plaque and tartar buildup, infection, gum disease, impacted teeth, and fillings and restorations that may need future replacement. Every dental check-up at IKON in Ealing will also include an oral cancer screening.

Following your check-up, your dentist will explain any findings and make recommendations for any treatment that may be required. They may also provide maintenance tips, such as toothbrushing or interdental cleaning advice that can help you improve your oral health between appointments.

Root canal treatment in Ealing

Most people fear root canal treatment because it conjures up images of pain.

The truth is that an infection causes the pain, while the treatment for it is painless thanks to the advanced techniques and tools we have available.

At IKON, we have specialist endodontists within our team who are highly experienced in carrying out root canal therapy under anaesthetic, meaning you can rest assured that the treatment you receive will be second to none.

  • Pus around the affected tooth

  • The affected tooth becoming loose

Dental extractions

At IKON, we will always do everything we can to save healthy teeth. In some circumstances, it is not possible to do so, in which case a dental extraction would be required.

The most common reasons for a dental extraction are:

  • Extensive decay that can’t be treated using other methods
  • Failed root canal treatment
  • Trauma or injury to the tooth
  • Lack of space in the mouth (overcrowding)
  • Retained baby teeth
  • As part of orthodontic treatment to create more space for teeth as they are repositioned
  • Impacted or troublesome wisdom teeth

If you require a dental extraction, we are pleased to provide this service at our dental practice. Depending on your needs, we can carry out simple and surgical extractions and your dentist will be able to explain the type of treatment you need and why.

Dental hygiene at IKON

At IKON, we believe that dental hygiene appointments go hand in hand with regular dental check-ups as part of your routine dental maintenance.

Most patients are advised to visit the dental hygienist every six months, but this will depend on the health of your mouth and the condition of your teeth.

Your dental hygienist will thoroughly assess the health of your teeth and gums to see how much plaque removal is required. They will then professionally clean your teeth, removing plaque build-up using advanced tools and techniques.

Your hygiene appointment will be comfortable and painless and your dental hygienist will keep you informed about your treatment throughout the appointment. They will also provide advice afterwards about areas of the mouth to pay special attention to when cleaning, and provide useful insight with regard to the best toothbrushes and interdental cleaning tools to use to help improve your dental health between appointments.

A dental infection can be painful, and without prompt treatment, you could be at risk of losing the affected tooth.

If your gums bleed when you brush it could be a sign of gum disease.

At IKON, we have specialist periodontists on site who are dedicated to treating gum disease and keeping your gums beautifully healthy. If you have diagnosed gum disease, your dentist will refer you to one of our periodontists who will help you to manage the problem.

Inlays and onlays at IKON

Decayed, damaged, or chipped teeth is a common problem and one we are used to fixing at IKON in Ealing.

If the problem area is too large to be treated with a white filling, another option may be an inlay or onlay. These are used if the damage is not severe enough to warrant a dental crown, and is a less invasive option.

If the repair is needed to the biting surface of a back tooth we will use an inlay. An onlay will repair the raised points, or cusps, on a back tooth.

Inlays and onlays at IKON are made from the best dental materials available to ensure a strong restoration that will last many, many years. The final result will be as aesthetic as it is functional, meaning that no one will be able to see it in your mouth.
